How do I find the mods that are right for me?ĭo you remember your first visit to Toys ‘R’ Us? Or, for that matter, your last visit to your local video-game retailer? Rows and rows of stuff you’d like, and not enough money and/or time to buy and play it all. Mods can make your playing experience easier and more aesthetically pleasing. If you can think of some information you’d like to have quick access to while you’re playing, or some way you wish you could arrange your interface, there is probably a mod that will do what you want (or there’s somebody out there working on one!). There are mods that will show the names of the buffs you have up, mods that will show which way your /loc numbers will move given the direction you’re facing, and dozens more. You can pick mods (like T.King’s beautiful spellbooks) because of the way they look, or you can pick mods (like the EQ Tradeskill Companion) because of the information they give you. The great thing about mods is that, unlike the standard EQ interface, you can pick the ones that best suit your personality and your gaming needs. They can turn your cursor into a Nature Walker’s Scimitar, put a dragon in your spellbook, and put every important zone /loc or tradeskill recipe only a mouseclick away while you are in-game. Mods can introduce new information or functions into the EQ interface, make things easier to use, or make the playing screen more pleasing to the eye. They allow the player to reconfigure the interface in various ways. Mods, also known as “skins”, made their first appearance in EverQuest after the new, customizable User Interface was introduced. I like Dragowulf's Spell timer ( ) even better than Drums'. On my Defiler and Cleric ( I say cleric cause I betray back and forth trying to decide). ![]() I never use the individual "Protect Me" and "Protect Yourself" buttons, and a helpful person assisted me by retooling this plugin to use "Cure Arcane" and "Cure Elemental" ON THE PET instead There's also a necromancer version, but my shaman even gets good use out of it. Sometimes, it's helpful to have a reminder just what zone I'm in. ![]() If you raid with a healer, it's a huge help, and I prefer it to the ProfitUI default.
